When looking into state laws, please remember that the term MOPED refers to scooters with human powered pedals. The term SCOOTER refers to scooters that do not have pedals. Laws also differ regarding gasoline engine scooters and electric powered scooters. 

Check with your state agency to see if your scooter is required to be registered and if a driver's license is necessary. Below are links to the individual states.
